What is Hijama / Cupping?

Hijama Cupping is an form of alternative medicine which involves placing cups on the skin and creating a vacuum by pulling out the air. The tissue under is raised and sucked into the hijama cup.

The goal of cupping is to enhance circulation, help relieve pain, remove heat and pull out the toxins that
linger in your body’s tissues.

Cupping therapy might be trendy now, but it’s not new.
It dates back way before the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ time.

frequently ask questions

We understand that some people are not sure about cupping or hijama and have questions.
Here are some of our most frequently asked questions:

Does Hijama/Cupping help with back pains?
Yes, Hijama helps with back pains. Many of our patients have experienced recovery of long-term back pains within 1-2 appointments, some have needed more.
What do I need to avoid after having done cupping?
We offer bespoke advice depending on the treatment and how many you get when you recieve the cupping, but in general, we recommend that you avoid exercicse, dairy products and also red meat and to avoid taking a bath/shower too within the first 24-hours of having recieved cupping.
Do you charge for consultations before treatments?
All consultations are free when booking an appointment. Before the cupping session we spend usually around 15-20 minutes discussing any previous medical history and talk about what’s going to happen and where the cups will be placed and will also give you a chance for any questions.
What cups do you use?
We use plastic hijama cups which are brand-new, sealed and sterilised for each patient and disposed safely after one use. This ensures that everything is done at a high and safe hygiene standard.
Is it painful?
In general; no, hijama is not painful. The cups are placed on the back before the incisions are done, this usually numbs the skin making it less likely to hurt. However, every patient is different and some may feel that it is painful or uncomfortable, the majority find it soothing.
How long does it take?
The time is dependent on the treatment. This can be discussed when calling for an appointment/price.

For long time i had suffered from severe pain in my lower pack. The pain would prevent me walking at times and had really had a negative impact on my day to day life.

I decided to take the plunge and undergo the Hijama treatment from brother Najeem.

I was at first very reluctant to try Hijama at first as it looked quite painful. However brother Najeem has a very relaxed atmosphere set when he is conducting the Hijama exercising which made it all easy for me and a lot less tense.

Overall I was extremely satisfied with my experience and was comfortable as brother Najeem is very knowledgable in the area of cupping and I would defiantly recommend his services to anyone who Is interested.

As for the effectiveness of cupping I found that my lower back was not as tense as it was and my pain was eased. I believe if I take another session my back will be pain free inshallah
